Anderson Columbia Co. Presented with 2007 Quality in Construction Award
The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) based in Lanham, Maryland has awarded Anderson Columbia Co., Inc. the 2007 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. AC was recognized on January 29, 2008 at the association's 53rd Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Quality in Construction Awards recognize hot-mix asphalt (HMA) pavements of excellence. "NAPA selects the recipients of its paving awards using a known set of standards that have shown to give a good result," said Mac Blodgett, 2008 chairman of the NAPA Board of Directors. "This award demonstrates the high quality of work that the HMA industry is achieving."
ACCI won the award for milling and overlay of 10.3 miles of I-10 in Suwannee County. Due to the high volume of traffic on this four-lane, divided interstate, ACCI did as much of the project as possible during off-peak hours. It used a polymer modified asphalt binder in the structural and friction course HMA mixtures, and overbuilt the road to increase the cross-slope in the Super-elevated curves. ACCI produced a high quality HMA pavement with good ride-ability and excellent appearance.
